Summary: This text, like earlier editions, is divided into three major parts: Part One, which covers the basic skills of vocabulary, comprehension and rate and includes exercises to reinforce the skills; Part Two, which has been totally revised so that each of the six chapters contains one long lesson rather than three short lessons; and Part Three, which contains several reading passages and a wide variety of questions ranging from multiple choice to essay. The format of this edition allows instructors to begin with any chapter and omit any chapters or exercises not needed. Also, a new chapter has been added and suggestions for further study have been added to the end of each chapter.
